Ramadan is starting!

The holy month of Ramadan is about to start. This is a sacred month of peace, family time, calm, happiness and joy. Ramadan is not only about fasting for the holy reasons written in the holy book, it is about doing good around you, and good for yourself. This is the true understanding of the Qran. It is about personal reflection, to surpass oneself, give and receive love.

During Ramadan, life in the muslim world is a bit changing, mostly regarding the rythme of the days, to cope with the religious obligations of the holy month. However, contrary to what people may think around the world, life is not stopping, on the contrary! Ramadan month is full of good vibes, family and friend reunions, general gatherings in the big cities, the whole countries are full of decoration and festivities… Thus, it is also very cool to come and visit us during ramadan! We are of course still open, and ready to guest you, and share with all of you the unique experience of the holy month.

During the holy month of Ramadan, all is joy and peace! A very beautiful atmosphere goes on during the whole month in the muslim world. People gather a lot, and help each other as much as they can. The cities and villages are decorated and full of lights, the families, friends, and even whole cities are eating together at sunset, at the time when they break the fasting, and then stay together and celebrate at night.

Let’s focus on Egypt, because Egypt is very well known for its unique excellence in celebrating the holy month of Ramadan! Indeed, cities and people are particularly excited and motivated to organise gatherings and events during the month. Cairo, for example, is very well known for its “iftar” gatherings. “Iftar”, or also called in english “breakfast”, is the moment when people break their fasting day, at sunset. This is the moment when everybody is gathering to share a good moment together, and celebrate the holy month each day. In Cairo, some well-known streets are famous for their iftar gatherings, with thousands and thousands of people joining to eat together. It’s incredibly unique to see, and wonderful to experience. When comes the end of Ramadan, with the Eid celebration, Egyptian people are again very famous for the extreme enthusiasm with which they are celebrating. Fireworks, dances, singings and a lot more is happening all over the country, from the smallest village to the capital of Egypt. Our country is so famous for its ability to celebrate, and we are never disappointing the whole world, especially not during ramadan!

And what about us, the family of Tunis Stable?

Well first, it is very important for us to remember all of you, dear lectors and potential future visitors, that we are completely open during ramadan!

Of course, our rythme and time setting for activities and all horse-riding tours are a bit different. Regarding small rides around Tunis village, it will for sure still be ok to go at any time of the day, as long as it finishes before the time to break the ramadan, at sunset. During the holy month, regarding long rides in the desert, we will prefer to ride early in the morning, as the whole staff fasting will have more power to exerce their job. Indeed, we just remind you that during the month of ramadan, people fasting are taking their last meal before the sun rises. Then, we will also for sure organise afternoon desert rides, and finish at the exact time of the ramadan breaking, at sunset. This will be for sure very cool rides: riding just before the “iftar”, see the sun goes down and arrive back at the desert stables exactly on time to break the fasting will be nice moments to share all together, and a unique experience to feel the ramadan vibes. For these special ramadan sunset rides, while guests and staff are riding together in the desert, other members of the staff will actively prepare the iftar for everybody.

This year, the month of ramadan is not gonna be that hot, as it can be when ramadan is later during the year. However, even if we had a long winter – which is not bad, believe us – temperatures should rise for a very chill and nice weather during the holy month. Thus, we will be very happy to start to introduce, during the ramadan month, special rides to come for the summer! We are happy to announce that we will maybe start slowly to organise some night rides! Indeed, when the moon is full or almost full, it lights the desert enough for us to venture it at night for 2 hours. During the holy month, after a nice iftar all together at the desert stable, and a nice bedouin tea, we will jump on our horses and go for a 2h ride to the Magic Lake, stop for another bedouin tea under the stars, and come back to the stable! These special rides will be organized following special requests, and if the weather and the moon allow it.

So, to recapitulate: the ramadan month at Tunis Stable will of course change regarding the daily rythme, but our activities are maintained.

All that being said, we would really like to add a quick comment for our international guests especially. During the ramadan month, we of course serve food and drinks during the day to our guests not fasting with pleasure. However, we would like to warn our guests that outside of our guest house, some shops, coffees and restaurants around may not be opened at all during the day, or at least not for the whole day as they usually are.

As you can read, we are definitely open during ramadan, ready to guest you and to welcome you, and mostly ready to share with you the unique experience of the holy month!

Welcome to Stable Tunis and our adventures, and Ramadan Moubarak to everybody!
